Hi Troy,

November is a month many fear.  Not because it starts off right after Halloween, but because it starts the oft dreaded Holiday Season.  We are all scared we won’t get everything done that we need to do before the end of 2017, and time is running out!

As we spoke about in last month’s newsletter, here begins the onslaught of social events which you should be taking advantage of for all those wonderful networking opportunities.  And yes, you need to add those to your already busy calendar and those additional trips to the store to get those perfect gifts, and cards, and the wrapping paper you forgot last time, and decorations, and items for your kid’s school event, and your own preparations for house guests and the party you might be hosting.  Oh, and there’s actual business of business to take care of before that ball drops.  Phew.  It’s a lot – and it’s easy to get overwhelmed.  Instead, focus on gratitude and being grateful.

Yes, Thanksgiving is our holiday of Giving Thanks.  And this is a good time to remind ourselves how lucky and fortunate we are.  We are lucky to have family and friends who are coming to visit.  We are lucky to have excited kids who require even more of our energy this time of year.  We are lucky for those invitations to attend the parties and networking events.  We are lucky to have work, even too much work, because what’s the alternative?!

Expressing gratitude consistently generates a momentum of optimism. Keep in mind that you can create negative mental habits by focusing too much on the challenges, the things that are not done and are not the way you want. Practicing gratitude and being grateful is the way to stay on the positive side which will keep your mood lighter and allow solutions to come faster and easier.

Find ways to be grateful for even the smallest things

and you’ll improve your overall mental and physical health.

It’s true.  And you’ll feel more energized than ever to tackle your next challenge...or should I say “adventure.”

The next time you want to start grumbling like the Grinch, stop yourself, take a deep breath, and look for the gratitude.  (That new client may have called when the sky was falling, but hey – you have a new client!)  Keep a note on your phone where you add those positive thoughts.  This will translate to more resilience for you and more success in both your personal and business life.  Your sunnier attitude could attract more business.  A pattern might emerge which shows you the next steps you should take to more career success.  It’s a habit worth developing.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

The Business Case for Gratitude

A Practical Guide to Gratitude

COACH'S CHALLENGE

Win of the day.

Since we’re talking about gratitude and being grateful, here’s another awesome drill to help you to keep your energy up by acknowledging the positive steps you teak every day.

First off, yes we all know the to do list is never ending. That’s the way it goes being an entrepreneur (until of course, you break through to “the other side”). And what tends to come with this never ending to-do list is the never ending guilt that I didn’t get it all done. This can be a very big weight to carry around and I’ve seen it happen to the best of us.

To counteract that guilt and keep your mind in the right place each and every day I suggest keeping a WOTD journal. It’s very simple, at the end of the day write down the 1 thing you did that day that is your win of the day (WOTD).

That’s it. That’s all you have to do.

Now…give it a shot. Try it for 21 days. Write down 1 thing you would consider a win every day.

Want to add another layer? Include 1 thing you’re grateful for each day as well.

WOW!! You’re going to be feeling awesome with all those wins and gratitudes!!! And you should…because YOU ARE AWESOME!!!
